The objective of Action A2 was to carry out a pre-screening of the functionality and environmental impact of the selected DWORs.
As a result of this actions a report on the state of the art of the technical and environmental data has been produced. The report studies the technical performance of the chemicals according to AATCC test methods for oil repellency and water repellency. To study the environmental data the selected DWOR products where separated in three groups: conventional DWOR based on long-chain fluorocarbon (C8) and then the alternatives based in C6 chemistry, finally a group of products which are not fluorinated.
The complete report can be downloaded here.
MIDWOR-LIFE project partner AEI Textils was present at the 4th edition of the Texmeeting conference promoted by TEXFOR, held in Barcelona (in parallel with the 080 Barcelona Fashion), on June 29th. In this edition, the conference focused on sustainability in the textile industry.
AEI TEXTIL organized a workshop on the 21st of June on the topic “Environmental sustainability challenges in the technical textile sector”. Representatives of 25 SMEs and over 30 attendees gathered together at the Textile Museum of Terrassa (CDMT).
The workshop evolved around three main objetives:
Last week CSIC-IQAC presented a poster during the 24th International Congress of the International Federation of Associations of Textile Chemists and Colourists. The abstract of the project has been published in the Book of Abstracts of the XXIV International Congress IFATCC (ISBN 978-80-906086-8-9) and in the scientific journal ‘Vlakna a Textil’.
The journal Vlákna a textil (Fibres and Textiles) is the scientific and professional journal with a view to technology of fibres and textiles, with emphasis to chemical and natural fibres, processes of fibre spinning, finishing and dyeing, to fibrous and textile engineering and oriented polymer films.

The MIDWOR-LIFE partners Institute of Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (CSIC-IQAC) and CLUTEX will be present at the IFATCC Internacional Congress that will take place next 13 to 16 of June in Liberec, Czech Republic.
CSIC-IQAC will present a poster of the project.
CLUTEX is one of the partners organizing the congress.
MIDWOR-LIFE project was presented in the AEI TÈXTILS booth and brochures were given out to interested visitors.
AEI Tèxtils was present at the 11th Annual Conference of the European Technology Platform for the future of Textiles and Clothing which took place on 13th and 14th April in Brussels.
During the Conference, Mrs. Ariadna Detrell, Cluster Manager of AEI Tèxtils and coordinator of MIDWOR-LIFE, introduced the project to other participants and gave them brochures with the project’s information.
First deliverables of Action A have been completed. Within the preparatory actions phase, MIDWOR-LIFE project had the task of making a selection of the most representative textile materials and finishing technologies.
Two tasks were carried out in parallel to accomplish the objective of this actions:
The consortium had a monitoring meeting on 16th and 17th February in Terrassa, at LEITAT headquarters. The project’s coordinator is AEI TÈXTILS, a non-profit organization representing the Catalan technical textiles cluster. The consortium is completed by another 5 partners: 3 research institutes/technological centers from Spain: LEITAT (member of Tecnio network), CETIM and the Institute of Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia from CSIC plus 2 technical textile clusters, POINTEX from Italy and CLUTEX from the Czech Republic.
