The European project MIDWOR-LIFE, led by AEI TÈXTILS (the Catalan technical textile cluster), will present the key results from the project on October 30th in a webinar organized by the working group on perfluorinated chemicals from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This group is composed of worldwide network experts and major national and international chemical regulatory agencies including the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) among others.
The registration to participate in the webinar is free of charge and can be done directly from the OECD website. The webinar will take place from 13 to 14h (Paris time). The agenda includes a brief introduction from the OECD perfluorinated chemicals’ working group followed by the presentation of MIDWOR-LIFE project represented by the technological centers LEITAT and CETIM. After the presentations, there will be a space for questions and answers to clarify any doubts by the attendees.
This webinar has a great impact for textile companies to learn firsthand about the activities OECD is conducting worldwide in relation to chemical products used in fluid repellency and also to learn more about the outcomes of MIDWOR-LIFE project. The main results that will be presented during the webinar are the technical assessment of the different products analyzed in the project including conventional fluorinated products and fluorine-free products, the environmental impact assessment through life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology and the occupational risk assessed during the textile finishing processes. In addition, the main conclusions on the current policy framework and voluntary schemes in relation to fluid repellency will also be presented.
The results from MIDWOR-LIFE project that will be presented during the webinar are available in the public reports through the project website and summarized in the Layman’s report, the latter available in English, Spanish, Catalan, Italian, and Czech.
